Gardening is one of the most enjoyable hobbies in the country. People in urban areas are discovering the pleasures of this backyard gardening past time even if there garden patch is above ground around there apartment building. The real enjoyment is watching a plant grow  and enjoying it throughout the growing season.
 
Gardening does not mean that you need a large piece of ground to have your garden. You can have a garden in pots. Starting small is a good idea if you don't have a lot of experience with gardening. Not all people have a lot of experience growing a large garden so it may be best to start with only a few plants so you can focus on each plants needs and care.
 
Consider that gardening may look as easy as watering and putting a little fertilizer to each plant but it is more than that. It is a lot of work and can take a lot of time if you have  many plants and a large garden plot. There are many things a garden can offer including relaxation, beauty, and benefiting the environment.
 
Gardening may be a lot of work from watering, weeding, and pest control. It can be relaxing for many people who are already used to the task and enjoy the fruits of their labor or flowers of their labor. It is recommended by many doctors as a therapy for people who are depressed as the plants calms the person and soothe emotions.
 
It is know that plants inhale carbon dioxide and exhale oxygen which we need in the air that we breath to survive. When grown in the home the air is healthier as plants will filter the air during their growing process and give off air. Plants also make a home cooler as they shade the home with their branches and leaves while they absorb the sunlight which the plant needs in their process to make food. For these reasons many people from the city find that in the suburbs or country the air cleaner and cooler and more relaxing.
 
A home with plants and flowers adds a lot of beauty to the home and yard. The colors and shapes of plants add a lot of value to your home while adding a lot to the design of the home. Many people will add plants to the home for the curb appeal and for the first appearance when people look at the home. Backyard gardening is a must for any homeowner even if only a couple of flowers or scrubs in the yard.
 
There are many aspects of backyard gardening. From growing flowers for their beauty to having a vegetable garden for food on the table. Growing many types of berries to growing fruit trees. Also having a pond or water garden to adding a bench or landscaping your yard. All things need to be considered with what your desires are and the time you have to devote to the care and upkeep of your garden. Weather large or small be sure to enjoy your garden and take time to smell the flowers.
